Abstract

Anti-fascism has been studied almost eminently as a product of the history of the European nation-states. The historiography on fascism has left aside its colonial and imperialist experiences and consequently the antifascist expressions in colonised societies. The aim of this article is to analyse the reaction to fascism of Egyptian Marxism from 1930 to 1948 in order to incorporate these experiences into the global history of anti-fascism. Through a critical analysis of transnational history, this article sheds light on the articulation of anti-fascism in Egypt as an inseparable triad from anti-colonialism and anti-imperialism.
