Resumen
La movilización de recursos militares en la Edad Moderna fue el fruto de la colaboración entre Estado y sociedad. Este hecho ha sido subestimado por la disposición de los historiadores a resaltar la relación entre la guerra y la construcción del Estado. Nuestro objetivo aquí es volver a poner bajo el foco esta cuestión histórica para descubrir por qué esta colaboración Estado-sociedad ha sido sistemáticamente menospreciada en favor de la idea dominante del Estado como la fuerza motriz, consecuencia este mismo de la guerra y, en última instancia, promotor del desarrollo. Abogamos por la necesidad de recuperar esta colaboración entre Estado y sociedad para la movilización de recursos como punto de apoyo para entender el impacto desigual de la guerra sobre el desarrollo, actuando en ocasiones como una palanca para el enriquecimiento de ciertos países mientras que en otros casos conduciría a su ruina. Creemos que esa colaboración es un factor crucial aquí. Explicar por qué su importancia ha sido minimizada por los historiadores puede ayudar a poner en cuestión la interpretación tradicional solidificada en torno al paradigma de la construcción del Estado y el efecto según el cual guerra sería igual a prosperidad.
