Resumen

Este artículo investiga cómo las lógicas coloniales de gobierno en el Mandato francés de la Sociedad de Naciones en Siria y Líbano se enredaron y chocaron con las lógicas internacionales de gobierno tecnocrático de la Liga, especialmente en el ámbito económico y monetario. La atención se centra en el establecimiento y la evolución del Banco de Siria y el Gran Líbano a principios de la década de 1920 y en el nuevo papel moneda que emitió. Al examinar la política imperial e internacional de esta nueva moneda muy criticada, el artículo aboga por una mayor atención al dinero como un elemento clave en el que el dominio imperial tardío se cruzó con las instituciones internacionales.
